Prank Science was a Discovery Channel TV show in late 2011. The show featured real, cutting-edge technology alongside a practical joke on unwitting participants. The TV show producers reached out to us at UTRA to help them build a prank-worthy robot. We used our award-winning UTonomous rover chassis which allowed for easy modification and maintenance.
My role was to test, maintain, and briefly control the robot at the end of the show on TV. UTRA was given a $1000 budget, of which we used $500, but the TV staff deemed our work great enough to give us the rest of the unused $500 as a reward.
